Grocery shopping is an important part of eating a healthy diet. Now a days, we cannot assume what is on the shelves or advertised as food is 'real' food.
What is REAL food? Food has for history been considered what we consume to nourish the body and we did not have to think about it beyond that. But as we all know, historically things change. Food or that which is called food is not always nourishing.
We have also learned many philosophies on what nourishment means and that we need to consume a certain amount of vitamins, minerals, etc. However, many feel that the messages about all these topics has been difficult to interpret. Well, I have learned overt time that going back to the basics is a great place to start. The basics - consuming real food! No chemicals, additives, preservatives, .... equals REAL FOOD!
Read Labels. It should be simple to read food labels and know the contents. And it is for 'real' food. The 'fake' food or psuedo food have labels with lengthy ingredients. Red flag #1. These ingredients are usually very difficult to pronounce, let alone know its meaning. This is red flag #2. The word 'natural' in its description on 'food' products actually means nothing similar to the definition most know it by. Red flag #3. It is so important to stay informed and educated about the meanings of some of these ingredients. A word used today to describe a chemical based sugar, could have a new name in a few months. Red flag #4. However, 'real' food labels have few ingredients. The words are self explanatory and easily identified. And the best food source is the 'real' food you grow yourself.
Real Nutrient Dense Food. It is a vital piece of a well body.
