‘Priority List’ of 6 Important Basics, for a Healthy YOU!

Many days we are bombarded with the endless ways suggested to us to obtain ideal health. Well, I believe there are a ‘ga-zillion’ ways that we can practice good health. However, there are also a few select items that make such a great impact on our health that they are a must do! But remember, it is truly about the details. Anything we do half way yields a half way result. So, think BIG! Go for the BIG results and go all the way!

#1-Digestion-Does it really matter that I have a lot of gas, burp a lot?! Well, actually it tells a lot about how in-efficient you are digesting your food and therefore, inefficiently absorbing your nutrients from that food. That definitely matters if I am striving to be healthy, have a strong immune system.

#2-Hydration-a) This simple daily task can seem so trite but it is a tool to many actions in the body. What happens if you don’t go number two for multiple days? Bad news! Stored waste in the body doesn’t serve anything good in the body!  b) Fluidity in the joints. Yeah! That feels good! c) Brain function- Ever have a headache and your mom says, ‘Have you drank enough water today?’ Well, dehydration cause headaches to name one uncomfortable response. d) Supple skin and so much more!

#3-Nutrition– Is every meal the same in regards to nutritional factors? Definitely not! If I eat fried chicken and fried french fries for lunch, I am clogging my arteries, raising my ‘bad’ fat levels in the body, in taking food low in nutrients, and so forth. However, if I consumed baked organic chicken with fresh organic green beans and an organic dark leafy greens salad, I would be hitting the high score for nutrients to support my immune system.

#4-Movement– Daily activity is so important and often neglected for the wrong reasons. There are many ways to get daily movement in our day. It is NOT just about hitting the gym and the weights. A daily activity could be a hike, a run, bouncing on a trampoline, walking, swimming, on so forth. The action depends on many factors: your capability, your age, your goals, etc. When we are sedentary, ‘things’ start to tighten up. Your body relies on you to do your part to support certain bodily functions. The lymphatic system ‘turn on’ when you move. Therefore, if you do not move, it doesn’t run. How does that affect you? Lymphatic system is your body’s natural way of detoxing. That is pretty important! So, everyone needs daily movement and yes, daily!

#5-Grounded– You’ve heard this word before. But what does it mean and why is it important? Well, here is another word for you – stress. We all know what that word means. We have all felt it! And probably, we would all be okay with never feeling it again. So, how can we sign up for that?  -by being grounded! Think of it like a tree, it has deep, strong roots to hold it in the ‘ground’ when a storm (stress) comes. We know there are always going to be storms here & there, but how do ‘you’ deal with it…are your roots deep and strong-grounded or are they shall and exposed?  Learn how to be more like a tree.

#6-Purpose– What is your life’s purpose? Some spend a great deal of their life searching for this. But you were born with it, there is no searching necessary. When you discover this, all else falls into place so naturally. I am not saying that you don’t still experience hick-ups now and again…that is where being ‘grounded’ comes in. However, when you eliminate what doesn’t fit in your life, those things not serving you and your purpose….the relationships, the jobs, the goals you thought you wanted,….when your activities are serving your purpose, the stressors melt away. Each day you like, taking part in activities that shift you and your life because they are serving your BIGGER picture.

The body is your  instrument to carry you through your life. You only get one. Let’s do all we can to support the health of your body & soul.
